Bedstand Air Purifier

CONTEXT
Home Air Purification
I talked with air purifier users to understand their experience with the product as well as locate where they store their device.
THE PROBLEM
While air purifiers can be useful in enhancing the quality of a persons interior environment, they are often bulky, stand-alone items that are shoved in the corner of a room.
DESIGN STATEMENT
Integrate an air purifier into another common house hold product to give another aspect of functionality within a home.
USER SURVEY
With this goal in mind, I created a survey to discover where in their homes users experience irritants most as well as what items are a necessity for them to have in a given room.
People experience most of their issues with airborne pollutants in their bedrooms and living rooms.
Side Tables, Lamps, and Desks were most mentioned as necessary bedroom items.
MOVING FORWARD
With many people spending on average a third of their day sleeping in the bedroom and stating this was a common place they experience irritation, the bedroom was a focal point to gear the product toward moving forward.
Bed side tables, lamps and lighting solutions, and desks were focal points for air purifier integration.
INSPIRATION BOARD

IDEATION
Multiple iterations of sketching took place to explore air purifier integration into products like wall sconces, tables, bed stands, and light fixtures.
MODEL MAKING
Models were created using blue foam to further visualize the form for a few of the above sketch concepts.
FINAL DESIGN
BREAVE is a wall-mounted
bedstand air purifier that aims to provide quality air in the bedroom while removing the clutter of a traditional bulky air purifier.
Integrating the air purifier into a bedstand ensures that multiple needs are met without adding any extra clutter to the room.
